Pretty Nostalgia:What a Bummer, and here comes the rat race…
Pondering on the thought of how I felt this time last year, just before returning to school, I remembered The Young Knives who were probably my favourite band of last summer. So here is a nostalgic moment for you to enjoy or cringe through as the summer holidays will, in a few weeks, seem like a very small blip disappearing over the horizon…
The Young Knives – Weekends & Bleakdays (Hot Summer)
1991-The Year Punk Broke and Sonic Youth’s Schizophrenia
Silver Rocket
Listening to the Deluxe Daydream Nation reissue over the last few weeks has rekindled those ringing ears and a bizarre craving for more sugar in my coffee. This video just shows how unique and jaw-dropping Sonic Youth were when they recorded Daydream Nation. Today they still seem to innovate from a thunder cloud far far away in their own strange world.
This song just oozes classic status!
We Fenced Other Gardens With The Bones Of Our Own
Liars, hmmm, this is very weird. It scares me. Enjoy:
Bjork – Cocoon (with a music box)
This is amazing, Bjork is on some chat show and she performs Cocoon with just a music box. It really shows how beautiful her voice is.
Liars
Liars have just uploaded three new songs from their forthcoming self-titled record. “Plaster Casts of Everything” has been around now for a while but now we have three more songs! After hearing them it’s quite clear that this is quite a different record from Drum’s Not Dead but the songs sound still very distinctly like Liars’ songs. Chilly, atmospheric, drone like but with plenty of snappy drum-breaks.
Debris Slide!!!
Living proof that Blur’s “Song 2″ is a rip-off of Pavement’s “Debris Slide”. Replace Bob Nastanovich’s part with ‘woohoo’ and you’re half way there. It would go: Bababadaba, WOOHOO!
Pavement on Space Ghost
They simply don’t make TV like this anymore. “The Beatles” (of the 90s):
